When we hand out ChemoHero Boxes we do it with pure kindness in our hearts, we never expect donations from those receiving them nor do we expect their family members to start fundraising for us, least of all when families loose a family member due to the cancer.
Last year we hand delivered a ChemoHero box to a gentleman called Roger Searle, the very first man we personally delivered one to, sadly a few weeks later Roger passed away…, only 7 weeks from being diagnosed with cancer.
We felt blessed we were able to meet Roger and his family and help in the little way of our ChemoHero Boxes of kindness.
Two months ago they organised a massive head shaving, raffle selling, hog roast eating fundraiser in South Molton in memory of Roger.
Today we were presented with an incredible amount of money £3022.41
From the event…. this wasn’t the total amount they raised as the total was a whopping £9067.22 which they kindly shared out between ChemoHero,Our local North Devon Hospice and Marie Curie.
It felt extremely emotional to accept this cheque today and to hear just what ChemoHero is bringing to people of North Devon. We would like to Thank the Searle family for supporting us and all those who helped them with their event.
