Hello 2018

Well we’ve entered 2018 and things at ChemoHero HQ have settled down in the world of our events as we pop our heads down and set to work on our priority “Our ChemoHero Boxes of Kindness”

2017 was an absolutely amazing year for us making us feel so welcomed as we celebrated 1 year of our Registered charity status and 2 years of producing our incredible boxes.

We handed out over 200 Boxes of Kindness, a few even left the county, as North Devon Residence donated to send them to family members receiving treatment else where in the country.

We supplied gifts during December every single day for all patients and staff working on the seamoor unit to spread some festive cheer at a difficult time.

We had Bingos, Quiz nights, party’s, cycles, runs, Rounders along with concerts and cruises and cake sales all happening through out the year which brought in much needed funds that have enabled us to develop the products going up to the Seamoor unit at NDDH for their Chemotherapy patients.

We helped towards the most precious of weddings in the fremington community, a day that will stay in our memories forever.

We also met Camilla and a Prince Charles, how amazing is that!

We saw new company’s supporting us locally and Nationally.

Our founder Lisa won a lovely lot of awards….The NDADA inspiring community work award, The Barnstaple Town Pride of Barnstaple award and last but not least being recognised with a National award where she headed up to London to collect the ITV Inspirational Health Star Award for her dedicated work in setting up ChemoHero as she went through two diagnosis of cancer herself.

We ended the year with an Amazing partnership with Stage Coach as Lisa got her sons name put back on a local bus “Stanley Walter” and Chris Harbour of Stage Coach North Devon worked hard to enable ChemoHero to have its very own advertisement on one of their buses to create even more awareness of our fabulous charity working hard in North Devon.

The bus was Show cased at the Barnstaple Light switch on in which Lisa had the honour to light the town up.

So 2018 what have we in store for the charity…… Well as we’ve said above we aim to work hard to improve our boxes, we already know they are something very special however we know treatments for cancer are changing quickly meaning side effects can as well so we must learn what people are needing to help make their treatment that bit kinder for them.

We want to see more of our products with business sponsors names on them or groups or individuals within North Devon.

We are a very community run charity and so it’s important to us that those receiving our boxes of kindness know some key facts about their box: where it’s come from, how it was fundraised and who packed it full of kindness!

We have begun the processes of this happening where we worked with a local guides group and we hope to share a wonderful story with you in the near future.

We plan to be getting out about in the community to tell you more about us so if you don’t know much about us then send us a message and book us in for talk!

We now have an option to come and help pack our boxes of kindness during the day and in the evenings, so if you fancy fundraising for us and then helping us with making up the boxes of kindness we want to hear from you!

We would also love to hear from any one currently receiving treatment and hear your thoughts and ideas about what we are up to.

So 1 month In we are quietly busy busy but it’s all rather exciting.

Keep an eye out for our first 2018 event!
